Use the Costs screen to see what individual resources cost over a selected period and how spending is distributed across projects. Start here for a cost breakdown, then use Explorer to investigate changes over time.
Choose the period and scope
- Select Costs in the main navigation.
- Open the date selector, such as Last 30 days. Choose a preset such as This month or Last month, or use Custom range for specific dates.
- Narrow the scope using Projects, Resource Type, Location or Labels. The initial controls show All Projects, All Types, All Locations and All Labels.
- Use Search resources to find a resource by name.
Check the header’s VAT chip before comparing monetary amounts. The display currency is read-only under Settings → General; see Display currency and VAT.
Read the summary
The cards above the table show:
- Total for Period: the cost for the selected period.
- Daily Average: the daily average, with the number of days shown below it.
- vs Previous Period: the percentage comparison with the previous period.
Check the date range alongside these figures. A period total and a daily average answer different questions; neither is a monthly forecast.
Compare resources and projects
Under View, choose how to read the Cost breakdown view:
- Flat lists individual resources with their Type, Project, Location, Labels, Cost and % of Total.
- Group by project shows project totals and resource counts. Expand a project to review its resources, or use Expand all and Collapse all to change the grouped view.
Use the cost and percentage columns together to recognise the largest contributors. To understand why a resource’s cost moved, open Explorer and inspect its history.
