Free vs Pro — what each plan includes, the 21-day reverse trial mechanics, and how to decide.

CloudTally has two plans: Free and Pro. Every new organisation starts on a 21-day Pro trial — you get the full Pro experience without paying. On day 21, the workspace switches to Free unless you've upgraded. No payment method is required to start, and nothing auto-bills.

The two plans share the core product: read-only Hetzner integration, the dashboard, the cost explorer, the resources view, the budgets system, and email alerts. Pro removes limits and unlocks the deeper views — the projected savings on idle servers, the rightsizing suggestions with confidence, the second connection.
The 21-day reverse trial
Every new workspace starts as trial-Pro: a Pro workspace with a 21-day countdown. The intention is that you experience the full product before deciding whether to pay for it.
- No credit card to start.
- You see everything Pro shows: full waste drilldown, rightsizing detail, smart forecast, on-demand sync, multiple connections, multiple budgets.
- On day 21, the workspace switches to Free. Your data stays. Some views switch from detail to count.
- You can upgrade to Pro any time during or after the trial. The countdown stops the moment you upgrade.
If you do nothing, you don't pay. That's the design.
What Free is good for
Free is a real product, not a teaser. It's intentionally enough to:
- Track one Hetzner project's monthly cost with hourly freshness.
- Spot cost changes through the Cost Explorer.
- Get an email alert when you cross 80% of your monthly budget.
- See how many idle servers and how many rightsizing opportunities exist, as a signal of whether deeper analysis would pay off.
If your Hetzner spend is small and stable, Free will likely meet your needs.
What Pro changes
The Pro value pattern is consistent: where Free shows a count, Pro shows the per-resource detail with savings estimates. The biggest practical differences:
- Waste drilldown. Free tells you "you have N idle servers"; Pro tells you which ones and how much each costs.
- Rightsizing detail. Free shows the recommendation count; Pro shows the suggested smaller server type, observed utilisation, and estimated monthly saving.
- Smart forecast with drivers. Free shows the headline projected month-end; Pro shows the breakdown — baseline, expected spikes, category drivers — and an explanation.
- More than one project. Pro lets you connect multiple Hetzner projects to one workspace and budget across all of them.
- More than one budget. Pro supports multiple budgets, multi-threshold alerts, and portfolio-level summary.
- On-demand sync. Refresh data on click instead of waiting for the next hourly cycle.
- API access. Pull cost and resource data into your own tools.
The simplest test for "is Pro worth it?" is whether the waste drilldown or rightsizing would surface savings larger than the monthly Pro fee. For most teams running more than a few Hetzner servers, the answer is yes — but verify it during the trial rather than taking our word for it.
Currency, VAT, and billing
CloudTally is operated from the EU. Pricing is in euro. VAT is added where applicable based on your billing address. Invoices are issued by our payment processor and stored under Settings → Billing.

Upgrade, downgrade, cancel
- Upgrade at any time from Settings → Billing. Pro features enable immediately.
- Downgrade to Free at any time. Gating applies on the next billing cycle.
- Cancel (delete the workspace) by contacting support. Your data is deleted in accordance with our retention policy.
There's no contract, no minimum term, no cancellation fee.
